Culinary Arts: California Culinary Academy, Institutes And Schools

While the idea of culinary arts conjures up images of famous chefs and fantastic, exotic dishes, the reality is that there are thousands of restaurants, bistros, and cafés opening every day in the United States that need professionals with culinary arts training or culinary degrees.

Culinary institutes and schools are the best way to receive culinary arts training. In California there are two culinary schools :the California School of Culinary Art in Pasadena and the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. Both provide the training needed to become a skilled professional in the culinary arts. An aspiring chef could find plenty of opportunity for networking in either of these schools.

Not only do these schools have excellent networking opportunities, but they are also affiliated with Le Cordon Bleu, the international school for the culinary arts and the hospitality industry. The Paris based Le Cordon Bleu is distinguished throughout the world for its promotion of Art de Vivre, the art of living. An affiliation with Le Cordon Bleu gives the aspiring student added prestige to an already prominent degree in the culinary arts.

The only requirements to apply for either school is the ambition to succeed and either a high school diploma or GED. Graduates with degrees in the culinary arts have the training to become chefs at hotels/resorts, personal chefs, caterers, or institutional chefs for any hospital, retirement home, or even school. The California School of Culinary Arts and the California Culinary Academy not only provide the education, but also the skills necessary to flourish in any culinary career.

The Culinary School of California, located in Pasadena,  is a bustling multi-cultural city with plenty of opportunities for any graduate of culinary school. Since the school is twenty minutes away from Los Angeles it provides fantastic opportunities for up and coming culinary talents  to network with anyone from the owners of the nearby organic farms or the celebrity chefs that cater to the Hollywood scene.

The degrees offered at the California School of Culinary Arts are full and part-time diplomas in Baking and Patisseries, Associate Degrees in Occupational Studies (in Le Cordon Bleu culinary arts), and Associate Degrees in Hospitality and Management. These degrees allow the students to go into several different areas of the culinary arts, from management of restaurants to baking.

Another fantastic culinary school is the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco. This is another wonderful school for anyone pursuing a culinary degree. San Francisco is one of the most popular vacation spots in the world, and as a result there is great ethnic diversity to be found in this historic and beautiful city. This culinary institute in San Francisco is close to many of California's famous wineries as well as many charming restaurants and hotels. The degrees offered at the California Culinary Academy are certifications in Baking, Associates Degrees in Le Cordon Bleu culinary arts, and in Hospitality and Restaurant Management.

The difference between this northern California school and its counterpart in the south is not only the environment, but the diversity of traditions in each of these areas. The application process for either of these schools is quite simple, since both offer applications online. The schools also offer financial aid for prospective students lacking the necessary funds to pay for an education in the culinary arts.

With a degree in the culinary arts from either school the image of a chef in crisply starched white linens bustling about a busy kitchen of a trendy bistro can become more than a pleasant image; it can become a pleasant reality.
